5 Wealthiest Trump Officials — Two May Have the President's Net Worth Beat

Politicians and all associated manner of movers and shakers are often known to hold massive wealth, whether through their natural networking capabilities, savvy investing chops or other avenues.
While President Donald Trump was known for his fortune well before taking office for the first (and second) time, many members of his inner circle are also of the moneyed class — with one person in particular perhaps even beating the president's net worth.

Let's take a look at the list, keeping in mind that ProPublica notches Trump's net worth at around $1.5 billion, while Forbes has a more generous reading of around $6.5 billion.
Scott Bessent, Secretary of the Treasury
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has been giving money advice of his own recently, according to CNBC, reminding American taxpayers of the importance of updating their paycheck withholdings.
Frequently the target of much political discourse, Bessent is listed at a net worth of $521 million by ProPublica, and about the same by Forbes.
Howard Lutnick, Secretary of Commerce
Having been appointed to the post of Secretary of Commerce in February of 2025, Howard Lutnick has made headlines most recently for incendiary comments regarding the U.S.-Canada trade relationship.
Coming up through Wall Street firm Cantor Fitzgerald, eventually helming the organization as president, chief executive, and later chairman, ProPublica lists Lutnick's current net worth at about $723 million. Forbes, in something of a contrast, lists Lutnick and family at a net worth of around $7.3 billion, perhaps exceeding Trump's — at least the president's net worth when calculated alone.
John Phelan, Secretary of the Navy (Department of Defense)
John Phelan is certainly busy in his post as the Secretary of the Navy, given the trials posed by the ongoing Iran conflict centered around the Strait of Hormuz. Phelan, according to The Hill, recently advised sailors to ensure their electronic devices were secured against potential bad actors looking to disrupt members of the U.S. armed forces.
ProPublica pegged Phelan's net worth at approximately $791 million, largely gained as a result of investment management.
Warren Stephens, Ambassador to the UK
Also a long-time investment banker who, until recently, served as CEO of the family-run Stephens Inc. (with himself now serving as chairman), Warren Stephens used his position as ambassador to the United Kingdom to speak out on the importance of free speech this April, particularly in academia, according to Traders Union.
Stephens holds an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion, per ProPublica.
Stephen Andrew Feinberg, Deputy Secretary (Department of Defense)
The second man on this list that may have a higher net worth than Trump (depending upon the source you consult) is Stephen Andrew Feinberg, the current deputy secretary of the DoD. Feinberg is currently attempting to gain congressional approval of a record-setting defense budget, despite stiff opposition.
Feinberg is listed by ProPublica as having a net worth of about $2 billion, nearly half a billion more than Trump's calculation from the same source. Forbes, meanwhile, has him nearly tied with the president at $6.3 billion.
Data is accurate as of Sept. 18, 2026, and is subject to change.
