Discover an Old Navy storefront in San Francisco with a large blue and white sign and decorated windows

You get a serious amount of bang for your buck purchasing over $100 worth of clothing and accessories at Old Navy than you would at J.Crew. Many J.Crew products, including shoes and pants, retail for more than $100 each, giving Old Navy an immediate advantage from the jump.

This Old Navy haul is for a casual women’s ensemble consisting of a T-shirt, pants, a cardigan, espadrille shoes and a handbag. At the time of writing this piece, we factored in active sale prices and referred to each item’s most expensive sale price to calculate the estimated total.

After doing this, our total spend came out to $129.97 for the full ensemble. Does that still seem like too much of a splurge? You may be shocked at how much more you’d pay for similar J.Crew looks.

  • Price: $14.99 to $35

These high-waisted pixie straight pants are beyond easy to dress up or down, and there's currently a discount for every color too.

The similarly styled Kate straight leg pants at J.Crew are currently 40% off their retail price, but even with the discount, shoppers pay $82.50.

  • Price: $9.99 to $14

Take advantage of the sale pricing (as low as $9.99 per top!) to load your wardrobe up with boatneck T-shirts.

Aside from a handful of shirts retaining their regular online prices, shoppers can save anywhere from 30% to 50% off. No matter which color you buy, it will be infinitely cheaper than spending $98 on the J.Crew linen boatneck tees.

  • Price: $39.99

Nearly 600 Old Navy shoppers have given the SoSoft lite crew-neck cardigan five-star reviews, with high praise for its lightweight fit in all types of weather and high-quality details.

This cardigan is unquestionably a better deal than J.Crew’s Jackie cardigan, which regularly costs $128. Even the discount on select colors can weigh heavily on your budget at $71.99 to $76.50.

You can snag comfortable Mary Jane espadrilles by shopping at both Old Navy and J.Crew, but only one retailer will always carry this footwear for less than $50.

  • Price: $19.99

Even without the discount, Old Navy’s large preppy bucket bag is still a better deal than the Berkeley utility bucket bag. The latter costs $198 before the 40% discount and is available in only one color: dark brown.
