10 Most-Driven Plug-In Hybrid Cars -- Here's How Much They Cost

The cars that most people buy aren’t always the ones that are driven the most. In fact, models from the best-selling vehicle category — traditional vehicles with gas-burning internal combustion engines (ICEs) — spend more time in the driveway than some with alternative drivetrains.
A new study from iSeeCars found that conventional hybrids tally more time on the road than ICE vehicles — but not all hybrids are created equal. Like electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) are driven fewer miles overall than gas cars and far fewer than conventional hybrids. However, drivers of a few PHEV models just can’t seem to keep their cars in park for long.

Here’s a look at the top 10 most driven plug-in hybrids, what they cost and how they stack up to the competition.
Old-School Hybrids Rule the Roads
Conventional hybrid drivers log 10.3% more miles than those who buy traditional gas cars, making them the most-driven drivetrain, according to iSeeCars. EV owners, however, drive 10.8% fewer miles than ICE vehicles. Trailing the pack as the least driven vehicle type are plug-in hybrids, which record 12.5% fewer miles than gas cars. Here’s the breakdown.
Average annual miles driven by vehicle type:
Conventional hybrids: 14,696
ICE vehicles: 13,323
EVs: 11,880
PHEVs: 11,660
But despite the averages, a handful of family-friendly PHEVs crush their category’s typical mileage and make even the most driven vehicle types seem like garage dwellers.

The following 10 PHEVs register the most road time, with the most-driven among them blowing away the segment average and surpassing ICE cars and even the average conventional hybrid, the most-driven class of vehicle.
