7 Items You Can Buy at Walmart for Much Cheaper Than at Target

It’s fairly challenging to find Walmart products that are cheaper than those sold at Target and vice versa. The two big-box retailers tend to be neck and neck when it comes to great deals on leading brands. This is also true of their in-house brands, where the price difference usually does not vary by much if you conduct a comparison.
But if you know where to really look, savvy shoppers can score certain Walmart items for a lot less than they would pay at Target. We rounded up the seven top items certain to surprise bargain hunters.

1. Three-Wick Candles
If you regularly shop for three-wick candles, consider buying them from Walmart for bigger savings.
The Mainstays brand typically retails for around $3.96 in a wide variety of scents, like the Mainstays beachside linen three-wick candle. Room Essentials, on the other hand, usually costs $5 for its selection of three-wick candles.
2. Foil Balloons
It doesn’t get any cheaper than $1 for Way To Celebrate’s Number 1 gold foil balloon. You’ll pay $5 more on the Spritz brand for the same foil balloon at Target.
3. Aspirin
The price tag for Equate 100-count aspirin ($1.37) is so reasonable that it rivals Dollar Tree’s low prices. Target doesn’t stand a chance. The up&up brand aspirin costs $2.99 for 100 capsules.
4. Cereal
There’s an in-house take on Frosted Flakes at each retailer, but only one is the better deal.
The Great Value frosted flakes come in a 13.5-ounce box for $1.93, while Good & Gather’s frosty flakes are a little smaller (12 ounces) and a lot pricier at $3.89. You could buy two boxes of Great Value brand cereal for that price.
5. Antibacterial Cleaning Wipes
Even without the rollback pricing, it’s still cheaper to buy antibacterial cleaning wipes at Walmart.
A 75-count canister from Great Value retails for $3.13 compared to up&up’s $4.19 price tag. It’s the same amount of wipes that fulfill the same cleaning duties with more than a dollar in savings.
6. Coloring Supplies
You don’t have to wait until back-to-school season to save money on coloring supplies.
Walmart shoppers reel in subtle savings on these popular arts and crafts essentials year-round. A 24-count box of Pen+Gear crayons runs for 72 cents compared to $1 for Target’s Mondo Llama brand. And a 10-count box of Pen+Gear markers is 27 cents cheaper than Mondo Llama’s offering at Target.
7. Shampoo
The cheapest in-house shampoo you can buy at Target costs $5.29 and it’s an up&up kids’ 2-in-1 shampoo at that.
This is where Walmart gets to shine with offerings like a 28-ounce bottle of Equate moisture-rich shampoo ($2.74) and Equate sleek and smooth shampoo ($4.97). As a bonus, these inexpensive shampoos are comparable to major haircare brands like TRESemmé and Garnier Fructis.
