As food prices continue to increase, you can save by shopping at discount retailers. But deals can vary, and comparison shopping can help you determine which retailer offers the best deals.

MoneyLion shopped the Dollar Tree, Dollar General and Costco websites to see how their prices compare on pantry items. In many cases, Dollar General had the overall best prices, but keep in mind that many Costco products are organic and cost only slightly more than the non-organic products offered by Dollar General and Dollar Tree.

Costco offers the best price on flour. The two 10-pound bags of Kirkland Signature Organic Unbleached All-Purpose Flour (20 pounds total) costs $19.99, meaning you pay about $1 per pound.

Dollar General has the next-best price on flour, selling 2 pounds of Clover Valley All-Purpose Flour for $1.40. Dollar Tree's Nancy Jane All-Purpose Flour 2-pound bag costs just a bit more at $1.50.

You'll get the best deal on elbow macaroni at Dollar General. The retailer charges $1 for a 16-ounce box of Clover Valley Elbow Macaroni, or about $0.06 per ounce.

At Dollar Tree, you'll pay $1.50 for the 20-ounce Columbia Elbow Macaroni, which comes out to $0.08 per ounce. Costco is the most expensive, charging $32.99 for 20 pounds of Barilla Elbow Macaroni Pasta, which comes out to about $0.10 per ounce.

You will save the most on canned black beans at Costco -- plus you'll get an organic product. Costco sells an eight-pack of S&W Organic Black Beans for $10.49, which comes out to $1.31 per can.

Dollar General has the second-best price of $1.35 per can of Clover Valley Black Beans, while Dollar Tree charges $1.50 per can of Goya Black Beans.

Dollar General has the best deal on diced tomatoes, where you'll pay $1 per 14.5-ounce can of Clover Valley Diced Tomatoes.

Costco charges $9.99 for an eight-pack of Kirkland Signature Organic Diced Tomatoes, which comes out to $1.25 per can. Dollar Tree has the highest price, charging $1.50 per can of Del Monte Harvest Diced Tomatoes.

Dollar General charges $2.45 for 2 pounds of Clover Valley Light Brown Sugar, which is equal to about $1.23 per pound, the best price you'll find among these three retailers.

You'll pay slightly more at Costco, where a 7.5-pound bag of Organic Brown Sugar costs $10.69, or $1.43 per pound. At Dollar Tree, you'll pay $1.50 per pound for Domino Light Brown Sugar.

Dollar General once again has the best price if you're shopping for canned corn. The retailer charges $1 per can of Clover Valley Canned Whole Kernel Corn.

Costco has the second-best price, charging $12.99 for a 12-pack of Del Monte Canned Corn, which comes out to $1.08 per can. At Dollar Tree, you'll pay $1.50 per can of Del Monte Harvest Whole Kernel Corn.
