Amazon Prime Big Deal Days 2026: Discounts To Help Retirees Stretch Their Budget

Amazon Prime Big Deal Days is scheduled for a two-day stint starting Oct. 6. One of the largest sales held by any retailer, e-commerce or otherwise, it’s among the most highly anticipated shopping events in the run-up to the holiday season — and Amazon has advised deal-hunters on what to expect.

The company issued a press release highlighting a few categories that will offer the biggest savings — but early birds don’t have to wait. In a separate separate press release on Sept. 14, Amazon announced the launch of early deals, which are discounted just as heavily as they will be during the main event, but only while supplies last.

For retirees, Amazon’s second major sale of the year — Prime Day was in June — offers an opportunity to get what they need or want without breaking their limited budgets. The following categories are where the best savings are showing up now, and are likely to be on Big Deal Days in October. All listed dollar amounts and discounts apply to Prime members. Some deals are available to non-subscribers. Others either aren’t, or are, but with reduced savings.

According to Fortune, the average cost of eight streaming services is $139.41 a month, or $1,672.92 annually — a year-over-year increase of 11.8% since 2025. Big Deal Days can help retirees on fixed incomes take a big bite out of that bill without diminishing their entertainment options. The following early deals are available now through Oct. 7:

  • Four months of Audible for $0.99 per month (regularly $8.99 per month)

  • Four free months of Amazon Music Unlimited (regularly $7.99 per month)

  • Three free months of Kindle Unlimited (regularly $11.99 per month)

While Amazon hasn’t yet announced specific Big Deal Days third-party streaming offers, its June Amazon Prime Day specials — a good indicator of what’s to come — included $0.99 per month for two or three months of access to platforms including:

  • Paramount+

  • Starz

  • MGM+

  • AMC+

  • Hallmark+

Naturally, Amazon reserves some of its deepest discounts for its own hardware, which retirees can utilize to upgrade everything from their home security to entertainment centers for less.

Current early deals include:

For guidance on what yet-unannounced deals to expect from the actual two-day shopping event in October, Prime Day in June listed dozens of Amazon device discounts, including:

  • Echo Show 11: 32% off

  • Blink Outdoor 4 security camera: 65% off

  • Amazon Ember 55-inch 4-Series 4K Ultra HD smart TV: 39% off

  • Amazon Smart Thermostat: 28% off

While tech products are often marketed to students, retirees rely just as heavily on them to stay connected, productive and informed — and also like students, their typically tight budgets mean waiting for sales to stay current.

Amazon’s early pre-sale tech deals include:

If Big Deal Days is anything like Prime Day in June, expect discounts of between 30% and 57% on products like Beats Solo 4 headphones, Google Nest Wifi Pro, Samsung Frame TVs, Apple Watches, Samsung Galaxy Tabs and ASUS TUF gaming monitors.

Frugal retirees make room in their budgets by meal-planning and cooking at home. They can refresh their kitchens at bargain prices with the following current pre-sale early deals:

In June, Prime Day deals included 20% to 50% off home and kitchenware brands such as Dyson, KitchenAid, Keurig and Our Place.
