The First Female-Forward Indycar Race Team Talk About Breaking Barriers

First female indy car team

On May 30th the world will see the first female-owned IndyCar series team in history.

Paretta Autosport’s CEO and Team Principal, Beth Paretta, and IndyCar Driver, Simona de Silvestro, join Cheddar’s Women Who Roar segment sponsored by MoneyLion to discuss how they are breaking barriers in the world of racing and inspiring future generations of female leaders.

Beth Paretta, owner of Paretta Autosports started in automotive working for Volkswagon, Aston Martin and then Fiat Chrysler. At Fiat Chrysler, Peretta led the motorsports programs which included NASCAR and sportscar racing. While working in racing she saw an opportunity to involve more women in the sport.

Paretta Autosports’ IndyCar is driven by Swiss racing star Simona de Silvestro. Although female racers are uncommon Silvestro never felt out of place – she just always wanted to go fast! The majority team’s pit crew, engineers, and business team members are women.

Paretta attributes her success in a male-dominated industry to finding her financial independence early. With their platform, Paretta Autosports dedicates time to reach out to girls in middle school and high school to educate them on personal finance. She notes that picking the right career, making money or enrolling in higher education are very important aspects of financial independence but girls should also have a greater insight on credit building, lending and investing early.

Here at MoneyLion, we love to partner with women who are bridging the gender gap and excelling in traditionally male-dominated industries. We’ll certainly be watching the team zoom past the competition at the Indy500 this year!
