6 Same-Day Pay Jobs To Pile Up Some Quick Cash

Building your bank account while maintaining a flexible schedule can be a delicate balance. Whether it's a job that pays under the table, or some easy gig-economy work, making the most out of your time usually means making the most out of your money.

When you receive payment for work you've done immediately, even on the same day, it can go a long way to keep those wolf-shaped bills from piling up at your door. If you're looking for more than a full-time paycheck or if you just want to pick up a side hustle for some quick cash, there are plenty of daily pay jobs out there.

Here are six same-day pay jobs to consider.

If you have a knack for fixing things around the house, you might be able to monetize your skill set. Melanie Musson, insurance expert with Clearsurance said, “Being a handyman offers opportunities for same-day pay. When you can go in and do a job in an afternoon, you can get paid for that service immediately. To be successful with this side gig, it helps to have industry experience.”

In other words, people need to trust that you know what you’re doing. Musson said, “Like with a regular job, you earn more as you gain experience and earn a good reputation. You may start a handyman job with a $30-per-hour rate, but after several years, you can charge $50 an hour or more.”

Though you may think teenagers have cornered the babysitting market in your neighborhood, you may be surprised to learn how in-demand affordable childcare is nowadays. Babysitting is often paid in cash when your shift is over and can be a great hourly rate.

Musson said, “As a childcare provider, you won’t be able to charge $15 to $30 per hour, depending on where you live, the going rate, and how many children you’re watching.”

If you are looking for a simple way to get paid the same day, you could complete online surveys on platforms such as Swagbucks, Survey Junkey or Prolific. Many of these sites offer multiple ways to make some quick cash, such as watching videos, filling out questionnaires or data entry.

You can earn rewards and cash them out for money or gift cards upon completion of the tasks. It’s not crazy high pay, but it is easy, mindless cash in a hurry. For example, on Survey Junkie, dedicated users cap out at around $100 to $150 per month. However, most surveys pay between $0.50 and $3.00 and take five to 20 minutes to complete, so if you do a bunch in a day, you can snag some spending money.

Delivery drivers are in demand for both part-time and full-time employment for delivering food or other goods. There are numerous gig apps to choose from to get started and essentially all you need to have is a car. By setting your own schedule and strategizing to work in busy areas, you can make above-average money and often get paid on the same day.

Matthew Warzel, president of MJW Careers, said, “If someone needs cash today rather than next Friday, gig platforms have made that much more realistic than it was just a few years ago. Food delivery, rideshare, grocery shopping, package delivery, task-based work, and hospitality staffing apps often provide instant or same-day payout options, usually for a small transfer fee. Companies like DoorDash, Uber, Lyft, Instacart, Shipt, Spark Driver, Taskrabbit, Wonolo, and Instawork are among the better-known options.”

Though you have to complete a shift before collecting your cash, it can still be a quick payout. Warzel said, “Earnings vary dramatically based on location, demand, and experience, so it's important to set realistic expectations. Food delivery and grocery shopping generally average around $15-$30 per hour before expenses, while rideshare drivers often earn $20-$35 per hour during busy periods.”

As this position most likely requires a degree in accounting or another related business field, this would be a great side gig for you to pursue if you have expertise in this field. You would compute data and keep track of payroll, inventory and expenses for a company.

Many smaller businesses, such as restaurants or bars, will hire a bookkeeper to come in once a week to make sure they are financially aligned and all payments are accounted for. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates you can make around $25 an hour on average.

By selling stuff online, you can immediately add money to your bank account. They can be your own possessions or items you are looking to flip, such as vintage clothing, home decor, antique furniture, bicycles or beauty products. There are numerous websites, apps, or e-commerce platforms where you can sell stuff, including:

  • EBay

  • Etsy

  • Facebook Marketplace

  • Nextdoor

  • Poshmark
