How To Stack Kohl's Cash With Coupons for Maximum Savings

If you're shopping at Kohl's, paying full price is almost never necessary.

That’s because you can actually save a lot by just stacking Kohl's Cash with coupons and sale prices. But you have to know when to buy, when to redeem your rewards and which discounts can be combined.

Kohl's regularly runs promotional periods where you'll earn Kohl's Cash based on how much you spend. The qualifying purchases can be in-store, at a kiosk, on the Kohl’s website or with the Kohl’s App. Note that these earning periods are separate from the dates when you can actually redeem your rewards. You can find the Kohl’s Cash promotion dates online.

If you're planning to buy many things from Kohl’s but they’re not urgent, you might want to wait until one of these promotional periods so you can earn Kohl's Cash to use on a future shopping trip.

During your initial purchase, check for any available coupons. Depending on the promotion, you might be able to combine those coupons with sale prices, which can help you bring down the total while still qualifying to earn Kohl's Cash.

Once the earning period ends, Kohl's opens a separate redemption window. This is when you can apply your Kohl's Cash toward another purchase. You can only use your Kohl's Cash during the redemption dates for the promotion on which it was earned.

When you’re redeeming your Kohl’s Cash during the redemption window, try to combine multiple offers at once if possible. For example, you can stack a sitewide percent-off coupon on top of department-specific dollar-off or percent-off coupons on top of your earned Kohl's Cash

Note that Kohl’s Cash applies to your purchase just like a coupon, prior to any percent-off discounts for the total purchase. When you stack all these discounts on top of each other, you can lower the final price by quite a lot.

Let’s say you buy $150 worth of clothing during a Kohl's Cash earning event. Because those items are already on sale for 25% off, your total is actually $112.50. You then apply a 10% off coupon, which lowers your subtotal to around $100. Because you shopped during the promotional period, you also earn a $10 Kohl’s Cash coupon for every $50 spent, which comes out to $20 in Kohl's Cash for a future purchase.

A week later, you use that $20 Kohl's Cash during the redemption window. You find a pair of shoes that were originally $80 that are on sale for $60. You also have another 20% off coupon.

  • Sale Price: $60

  • 20% coupon: $48

  • Apply $20 Kohl's Cash

  • Final cost: $28 (plus applicable tax)

So instead of paying the original combined retail price of $230 (this includes everything you bought in the last two weeks), you spent about $128 before tax, which is almost 50% off the original price.
